What to Bring – Winter

  • For your car – (for detailed information, click here)
    • Fuel – There is no fuel in Harrietville as of the 2015 Winter Season. The last fuel stop is Bright and Omeo.
      • For diesel vehicles – Alpine Diesel or Diesel additive (click for here more information)
    • Parking Permit (This can be purchased online at the Alpine Easy Access website.)
      Please remember to buy your parking permit in advance or on arrival.  Also note that Parking Permits are no longer free for those over 65.  Parking is free for that day if you arrive on the mountain after 3pm.
    • Anti-Freeze in the Radiator
    • Diamond Pattern Snow Chains (Not “Ladder” or “Spider). These can be hired in Myrtleford, Bright or Harrietville
  • Sheets (call Bev if you want to know your bed configurations)
  • Pillowcases
  • Bath Towels
  • Food / Drinks
  • Clothing / Toiletries
  • Slippers

Consider bringing

  • For your car
    • Ice Scraper (for the windows)
    • Shovel (for digging your car out of deep snow)
      • Note that most lodges will have a shovel that you can borrow
      • If you do bring a shovel, don’t leave it in the boot of the car, as it will be difficult to retrieve after a heavy snowfall
  • Books / Music
  • Camera / Camera batteries / Charger
  • Bathers for the sauna

What’s provided – The following items are provided by the lodge during the winter months; margarine, coffee, tea, Milo, salt, sugar, milk (Low Fat and Full Cream), multigrain and wholemeal bread, potatoes, onions, crushed garlic, ginger, mustards, rolled oats, weetbix, honey, marmalade, jam, peanut butter, vegemite, bathroom pump-pack soap at the basins, laundry detergent, tomato, mint sauce, sweet chilli sauce, balsamic vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce, orange/fruit juice (breakfast only), vinegar, mustard, a good variety of herbs and spices, white rice, flour, custard powder, icing sugar (birthday candles) and baking powder. … and sometimes snow.
