2012 Opening Weekend party

Well the Opening Weekend kicked off with a bang. As promised, four lifts were open, and enough snow for pleasant skiing on The Summit and at Big D. The weather on Saturday and Sunday was slightly overcast with patches of sunshine, but more important for those skiing on the Summit, there was no wind. On Monday the sun came out and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky all day. APEA celebrations kicked off with the traditional Saturday night party, with this year’s theme being “Cowboys and Indians”. A dinner of slow cooked spare ribs, peas, corn on the cob and baked jacket potatoes, topped off with sour cream and bacon “GRITS” ! This was followed by a screening of the classic Mel Brooks comedy, “Blazing Saddles” on the big screen.
