Under 35s Ski Weekend

Posted by on Apr 26, 2013 in APEA Events | 0 comments

That’s right, it’s that time of year again when us ‘young ones’ get full run of APEA for some socializing, partying and hopefully a some action on the snow (start your snow dance now). So if you’re between 18 and 35, clear your diary and get your butt up to Hotham on Friday 21st June until Sunday 23 rd June 2013. Share the love, bring a friend and we’ll charge them members rates. That’s a miniscule $24 per person, per night for accommodation and dinner on Saturday night. Due to popularity it is a strictly first come first serve basis, so what are you waiting for? Tear out the slip and return it to Kylie Girolami a.s.a.p. as all payments must be made in advance. At this stage only one friend per member will be accepted. Should you have any queries, please contact Kylie on 0409 424 460 on Tuesday evenings between 8pm & 9pm.   Download the Booking...

Natural Snow Depth about to reach 1 metre

The big news at Mount Hotham this week is that the average Natural snow depth is about to hit the one metre mark for the first time in the 2012 ski season.  The snow depth in snowmaking areas has now reached 115cm, and last night nearly 900 truckloads of snow were produced by the snow making equipment across the resort.  Don’t let the fact that only 14cm of snow have fallen over the last 7 days dissuade you, skiing conditions have been ideal over the past two days.  High winds last Monday did close half the lifts but by the following day, the winds had dropped to a mere breeze and sunny patches were the order of the day.  Skiing conditions today were...

2012 Opening Weekend party

Well the Opening Weekend kicked off with a bang. As promised, four lifts were open, and enough snow for pleasant skiing on The Summit and at Big D. The weather on Saturday and Sunday was slightly overcast with patches of sunshine, but more important for those skiing on the Summit, there was no wind. On Monday the sun came out and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky all day. APEA celebrations kicked off with the traditional Saturday night party, with this year’s theme being “Cowboys and Indians”. A dinner of slow cooked spare ribs, peas, corn on the cob and baked jacket potatoes, topped off with sour cream and bacon “GRITS” ! This was followed by a screening of the classic Mel Brooks comedy, “Blazing Saddles” on the big screen. Want to see more photos ? Click...
